Hello from the Spatial Media LBSzone...
Wow, I go away for one day and look what happens... I'm sitting in on a meeting with some Forum Nokia execs at Adobe MAX and they ask me if I've heard that Nokia bought Navteq... I almost dropped! I heard the big news while getting the low-down on what Nokia will be doing with Flash and more specifically Flash Lite now at release 3. IMHO this is also pretty huge when you consider this, Nokia is essentially an Internet company (and you thought they simply made phones!). With some 900 million Nokia devices out there the company now boasts an even larger developer community (3.4 million Forum Nokia members + the Navteq developer base) the company is the largest enabler of Internet connectivity out there. With a firm commitment to shipping Flash 3 enabled devices and now the assets and geospatial data holdings of Navteq thrown into the mix you can see how significant developing for the mobile device user is going to be. Enter Adobe... I admit I'm not terribly familiar with their portfolio, but after yesterday I'm convinced that the application devlopment tools they are providing are second to none.
It was first thing Monday morning when I saw the announcement... Forum Nokia had launched a new developer community, one focused on Flash and dedicated to helping the developer port Adobe Flash content to the mobile environment... pretty huge really! The developer portal is part of a larger mandate of the company to support Adobe Flash Lite 3.0 as part of a strategy to deliver a rich Internet experience to Nokia device users. So to recap, simply put, the Creative Pros developer community now exists to help the developer optimize existing Flash desktop content for the latest Nokia mobile devices. See www.forum.nokia.com/creativepros. If your at all curious about these developments then I urge you to check out a few of the useful resources that these players offer. These include Forum Nokia; Nokia Creative Pros Community (for everything and anything mobile and Flash!); MOSH (think mobilize and share); The Adobe Developer Connection; Adobe AIR Developer Center (useful for Flex, Flash or HTML/Ajax developers). Stay tuned for more on this. Not interested in mobile geospatial application development yet? Perhaps you should be!

Sony Ericsson Application Shop: More Than Just Selling
A market for third-party applications and content is an integral part of the smartphone promise. Educating users about the capabilities of their smartphones is key to realizing this promise. Recent changes in Sony Ericsson's tactics are designed to address this issue. Richard Bloor over at our partenr site on SymbianOne jumps in and covers this topic.
