Hello from the Spatial Media LBSzone...
I had the pleasure of enjoying a Nokia E71 (E series is for the business user) for a couple of weeks and miss it terribly! See some images of the device and some fine lbs apps here on the blog. Next up (hopefully is a look at a couple of Samsung smartphones and the Nokia N82... stay tuned!
Some of the interesting LBS related news items from the past few days include word from Yougetitback. This clever online service helps people protect, recover and replace highly valued mobile devices and has just announced a "Mobile SuperHero" application with a geo location capability to aid in tracking and recovering misplaced, lost or stolen valuables. Our friends at Trimble have made it official, the company's annual Dimensions conference will take place next February 23-25 in Vegas. Speaking of GPS companies, Garmin has rolled out the Team Garmin Edition of the Edge 705 GPS-Enabled Cycling Computer. The Edge 705 represents several breakthroughs in cycling technology, including power compatibility, wireless unit-to-unit connectivity and the ability to monitor GPS position, heart rate, speed, cadence, altitude and gradient on the same display. Over at Nokia, the company has announced a new mobile software to help organizations deliver critical social services. Nokia Data Gathering software will be available to public sector organizations and NGOs free of charge. It can be used to create tailored questionnaires and distribute them to multiple mobile phones using a normal mobile network. Field personnel surveying local conditions can quickly complete the questionnaires and immediately transmit their findings to a central database - a video clip is available here.
And finally, from the Blogosphere, a tip for you Blackberry users who haven't yet discovered the WHERE widget app for your device. Check out this fine tutorial on how to add WHERE widgets using your Blackberry... enjoy!
Oh, and remember, you can follow me on Twitter or Jaiku and we also have a popular, new LBSzone group over on LinkedIn... enjoy!

Spotlight on Geotaging your photos -
There's a number of tools available to help the user to geotag media (photos, video, etc...) Microsoft Pro Photo Tools provides a set of tools for photographers to perform various tasks with their images?including RAW captures. The current version enables you to quickly geotag your photos, view and edit metadata, and more, leveraging the power of Windows and Microsoft Live Local. With Pro Photo Tools allows you to perform a "reverse lookup," determining GPS coordinates based on location name information. Using Pro Photo Tools, you can gather location information from a variety of sources and apply it to the metadata in your images. Many of the features found in Pro Photo Tools were suggested by photographers.
