Hello from the Spatial Media LBSzone...
Well, Android is here... are you planning on developing for the new platform? Google would like to think so and is luring developers with $10 million in
prizes! In the Android Developer Challenge I, the 50 most promising entries received by March 3 will each receive a $25,000 award to fund further
development. Those selected will then be eligible for even greater recognition via ten $275,000 awards and ten $100,000 awards. Some of the topic
areas the Google has mentioned for desirable mobile apps include: social networking, gaming, news, media consumption, and yes indeed, location-based
services! Google will accept submissions from January 2 through March 3, 2008. On to business... This out of the deCarta Devcon taking place this week in San Jose... INRIX Predictive Flow (Predictive
Traffic data)for deCarta's geospatial software platform. INRIX predictive traffic services can now be easily integrated via the deCarta Traffic Manager
extension to its Drill Down Server geospatial platform. This will allow deCarta customers to add real-time traffic and incident information, and for the first
time, predictive traffic services to their location-based solutions. The solution promises to make available reduced drive times and pre-planning via
optimal route selection... NICE! Finally, the W3C is providing a new means for people to create and find mobile
friendly content. W3C invites Web authors to run the alpha release of the W3C mobileOK checker and make their content work on a broad range of
mobile devices. Want LBS news to go? LBSzone updates are now available via Widsets. What's new on my mobile handset this week? Earthcomber is a very
cool location-aware search utility enabling me to take advantage of built-in GPS to locate favorites and relevant local content.

The WHERE developer platform now has a buld for the Nokia N95... developers are
encouraged to develop Widgets for the N95 using tools from the WHERE developer program!
