Hello Mobile Enthusiast... and welcome to another mobile, location-tech news roundup.
Another busy week in mobile technology here as I pen this update while listening to "The voice Mail" a funny yet very informative mobile industry podcast by James and Stefan. Listen in on the guys as they hold their weekly call and dicuss all things mobile and then some - they do a great job! Moving forward, this week Google pulled this lid off their Android Weear developer preview and is inviting developers to start thinking about developing android powered wearable technology. About Wear... Much like Google Now on a smartwatch, Android Wear is designed to focus on timely information, delivered when it's most relevant - Google's announcement media mentions social updates, chat updates and notifications from shopping and news apps, for instance (See More Details). A high profile event took place in D.C. recently to formally launch the Climate Data Initiative, an ambitious new effort bringing together extensive open government data and design competitions with commitments from the private and philanthropic sectors to develop data-driven planning and resilience tools for local communities. Finally, Esri has announced the Esri Climate Resilience App Challenge in an effort to support the initiative. The challenge is open to everyone - independent developers and those in startups, governments, academia, and NGOs. The resulting apps will be openly shared and Esri will award prizes to the winners and recognize them at the ESRIUC in July. This is a great opportunity for all!
