Hello from the Spatial Media LBSzone...
Welcome once again to our weekly update on location-based services. Lets jump right in with both feet and look at
the hot news over the past several days... Oracle recently announced new mobile interoperability with Nokia devices
and technology. What does this mean? Well, for starters, Oracle(R) Database Lite is now available on Symbian
Version 9/S60 Version 3 enabling enterprises to mobilize their applications using Nokia devices. Users of Facebook
should be excited about a new mobile solution from Electric Pocket - FindMe offers the opportunity to "tag"
commonly visited locations, such as home, office, soccer field or favorite bars and restaurants, and post those
locations on their Facebook profiles. FindMe doesn't broadcast geographic location information, only the names of
locations. The solution runs on BlackBerry or Windows Mobile Smartphones. More on Social Networking as a new
location-aware app comes to us - enter MyLoki. MyLoki is a location sharing service that feeds your Loki location to
personal blogs, social networking sites like Facebook and location directories like Fire Eagle. This is a truly "hot" app
from Skyhook Wireless and I predict we'll be hearing lots more on this down the road! Finally, you've heard lots
about Gypsii lately (think LBS Challenge winners). Now you can see what its all about in an excellent video the
company has published - See here. That reminds
me, if you have a youTube video that shows off your location-enabled application or service please tell us about it so
we can share it with our Global audience. Have a great week.
