Hello from the Spatial Media LBSzone...
Let's jump right into things this week with details of a partnership to bring accurate Wi-Fi positioning to the photo
market. The deal between locr (think geotagging) and Skyhook Wireless (think Wi-Fi) will bring location awareness
for photos to millions of Wi-Fi handsets and also improve the accuracy and availability of location information for a
significant number of existing locr users. European users will be pleased to see that yet another GPS-enabled
device is now available... this time from T-Mobile. T-Mobile and Nokia recently announced the Nokia 6650. Quickly
becoming the norm, the 6650 has built-in AGPS (assisted GPS) to enable quick positioning with NaviGate route
management. Not to be outdone, T-Mobile rival, AT&T along with Smarter Agent have partnered to provide a fast,
convenient and listing-rich Apartments for Rent application that consumers can use from their cell phones.
Finally, some good news for Floridians for the coming storm season as Traffic.com is now providing Florida drivers
with free mobile traffic Information. The information can be easily had by calling a toll-free number or sending a
text message.
