From Tele Atlas, a reminder to LBS Developers about the LBS Innovator Series deadline of Aug 23. - Finalists also gain exposure to potential customers, operators, industry experts, venture capitalists. Under the topic heading of product news, Magellan today has announced Mobile Mapper 6 for managing pipeline assets. This Rugged handheld GPS/GIS receiver and camera collects pipeline data With 2-5 meter accuracy. In application news, TDC Group has announced that Freeance Mobile 2.0 now Creates Map Features In ArcGIS Server 9.3 Using BlackBerry Smartphones. BlackBerry smartphone users can now access ArcGIS Server 9.3 map services to field map point features to ArcSDE records in a Postgres database using GPS enabled BlackBerry smartphones - if you plan on attending next week's ESRI UC in San Diego you can get a first-hand look on the exhibition floor.
Finally, if "Open" is your thing then please remember to check out the Open Web Foundation, recently announced at OSCon. Oh, and before I forget, one blogger, feels that iPhone will soon lead in mobile mapping... I have another take on this and I'm not quite as bullish as one needs to remember that Nokia is still a major, Global player in this space! Have a great week and be sure to tap me on the shoulder if you spot me at the ESRI UC next week in San Diego!
