Glenn Hello from the Spatial Media LBSzone... To begin I'd like to remind you about a fabulous and growing resource that we've created over at LinkedIn - The LBSzone LinkedIn Group. Now with almost 1,500 professionals taking part, this useful networking resource provides you with a place to ask questions and start discussion, post your news, share tips, post or look for a job, promote an event or ?? the key is that everything here is focused on mobile technologies and in particular, location provisioning. Just this week some of the members have posted the following: a request for map geociding services; a request for a topic for a thesis with a focus on LBS; discussion and questions about privacy (A href="http://www.sigspatial.org/sigspatial-special">see more here; news about a mobile train schedule for Blackberry users; and much more! You can join the group and take part in the discussion here.

If LinkedIn isn't your thing then we also suport a number of other social networks including a facebook Page, our LBSzone Twitter, we serve up mobile photo uploads to our Flickr, Video archiving on YouTube, mobile media archiving on Nokia's Ovi Share service; and we even stream live via mobile to Qik on occasion!

Finally, in this week's LBS news update you'll find loads of interesting tips including details of the new NAVTEQ mobile traffic.com application, now available via the mobile web at mobi.traffic.com (think real-time traffic updates!); New JErsey-based ALK Technologies has rolled out CoPilot Live, Turn-by-Turn Navigation for Android Phones - think voice-guided turn instructions and cutting-edge 3D mapping; speaking of Android OS, Waze has announced a new, public beta for develpers. Waze harnesses driver-generated data to build navigable road maps and provide real-time information to commuters; and finally, did you know that research has estimated that by 2014 there are expected to be some 223 Million Smartphones Shipped with Open Source Operating Systems! Have a great 4th of July to all of you celebrating the US holiday (and Happy Canada day to our Canadian readers!) PS - for those of you on the Colorado Front Range perhaps I'll see you tonight at Ignite Boulder...
