Also from the blog, we informed readers about a great Inauguration applet that enabled users from around the World to collaborate and share stories, tips, photos etc... via their mobile while they were taking in the Presidential Inauguration - see more. Finally, for some cutting-edge implementations of GPS data, check out this piece to see how visitors to Steamboat Springs, CO are taking advantage of location technologies to improve their winter vacation - nice! In the news, our friends at Tele Atlas have informed us that 3, Google, Orange Partner and Sony Ericsson have joined the Tele Atlas LBS Innovators Series as Judging Panelist - winners to be announced at MWC next month in Barcelona. Finally, interesting updates on 360 degree street mapping, this time in Canada as Laser Mapping is using their vehicle-mounted mobile laser mapper to collect data in Alberta. Finally, an interesting job opportunity just listed today for an LBS Sales Specialist to support the Asia-Pacific sales team in selling LBS gear to wireless carriers - good luck! Wondering what device I'm testing at the moment? See here for the latest unit to land on my desktop!

DID-U-KNOW... we maintain a section devoted to Mobile Developer Competitions and Awards - Good Luck!

    SUGGESTED READING

Mobile Device Management Done Inexpensively - Enterprises love the pay backs and efficiencies that can be achieved with a properly developed mobile application in the hands of their workforce. However, one item that is often overlooked in these deployments is how to effectively manage and support the mobile devices once they are outside the four walls. In this white paper, Enterprise Mobility's, Phil Lachmann will present many of the problems that companies face when attempting to deploy and manage mobile computing devices, as well as some potential solutions.

Security: The Wireless Revolution is Here - Maintaining security while providing mobile workers with access to the information they need when and where they need it is complex. Protecting enterprise IT infrastructure requires a deep understanding of the risks associated with mobile applications, handhelds and wireless networks. This paper outlines how the Good wireless handheld computing system provides end-to-end security and how the Good System places security completely in the hands of IT managers and does not require users to set security parameters or make any security decisions.

Phone+ - Phone+ offers readers the information they need to modify and expand their product base to serve a more experienced consumer. Each issue focuses on emerging technologies, operations, marketing strategies, industry trends and packaging of multiple telecom services.
