Hello from the Spatial Media LBSzone...
Kicking things off this week, be sure to check out the first part of cool things from CTIA - a quick look at interesting mobile technologies seen at the recently held CTIA event in Vegas - there's something of interest here for everyone, I'm sure. In the news today, take note of an event taking place online today, hosted by ESRI and NAVTEQ - this webinar will help Helps Governments to Operate Efficient Fleets by using ArcLogistics software and NAVTEQ map data. Under the topic of very cool, locr has released news of updates to their travel photo book - The locr travel photo book simplifies the use of GPS-data and location information for a photo book. Something from CTIA, shortcovers has opened up their API - This new program gives developers around the world the ability to leverage Shortcovers' content, storefront, reader, and payment system on any new or existing smartphone, netbook, eReader or integrated application.
Kudos to GeoSpatial Experts, who've Bundled a New GPS-Enabled Nikon Camera (COOLPIX P6000) with their Photo-Mapping Software - the Nikon camera bundled with its GPS-Photo Link Express software is available in packages starting below $750... nice!
Something cool for you mobile photo fanatics... Nokia has released a Beta version of Point and Find, an innovative service concept that enables people on the move to access relevant information and services on the internet, simply by pointing their mobile phone camera at real-life objects. Imagine pointing your camera phone at a poster for a new movie, then receive information and watch the trailer or read a review... amazing stuff!
Finally, developers take note of this interesting Mobile Application Development Challenge where you can win yourself a cool $10K! The contest promotes Rhomobile's Rhodes framework, which allows developers to write once to create native apps for all leading smartphones including iPhone, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, Symbian and Android. Remember you can follow us on Twitter via @lbszone.

- The winning application, Taxi4me, is a mobile taxi ordering service that helps consumers anywhere in the world connect with trusted taxi companies. The desired time and destination is sent from a user's mobile phone to a taxi brokering server. A number of fine apps were seen at the awards ceremony, many of them having some great potential to support mobile advertising!
