Ok, this one is bloody brilliant!! You likely know by now that Im a
huge fan of all things Geo, mobile, local, social, and geeky, so
theres no wonder that Im a fan of Waze and am an avid wazer - of, I
love free stuff and Shwag too ;0)
The gang at Waze has just rolled out
an update of their fabulous, free mobile navigation, crowd-sourcing
data service for iPhone users - grab the update from the iTunes store
if you havent already done so.
Loads of new functionality in this release,
most notably the addition of road munching, a teaser, so to speak,
where the crowd-sourcing data collection community (thats you - the
user) is enticed to munch in certain areas that are in need of some
crowd-sourcing and updating, and collect valuable goodies (look for the
cherries, presents and other interesting, fun icons). When users grab
or munch a prize they get additional road munching points, enabling
them to rise in the ranks as a power wazer.
To kick things off with the
new munching feature, Waze is offering up the top munchers some cool
prizes over the ThanksGiving holiday season so get munching! See more
at Waze.com or on Twitter @waze - more details available in this official PR release and the video provided below (no video appearing for you? See HERE) - you can find me on Waze as user GISuser!
