Location-Based Party Hopping Gets Interactive in New York City PDF Print E-mail
Written by Meet Now Live, Inc.
Tuesday, 08 July 2008

NEW YORK, July 7 -- Announcing the successful launch of its new service, Meet Now Live (MNL) allows anybody with a Web-enabled cell phone or mobile device to broadcast their party location of choice -- and receive free drinks in return.

MNL's public beta launch includes a network of more than 2,000 bars, clubs, and lounges in the Metro New York, Jersey Shore, and Hamptons areas. This summer, anybody can register for the service free-of-charge at Meetnowlive.com, and then use it to find bars, nightlife, and friends. After registration, users broadcast their location from their Web-enabled mobile device (with optimized interface for iPhones), allow others to view their location broadcast in real-time, and let the party begin.

During this launch period, which lasts until Labor Day weekend, MNL has joined forces with The Town Tavern, Whistling Dixies Texas Tavern, and Porky's NYC to offer "Free Beer Fridays!" When users "broadcast" their location from these bars, encouraging friends and other MNL users to join them, the MNL system delivers an on-screen mobile ticket that grants them the right to unlimited free draft beers.

"We'll be adding several new promotions to offer greater variety to our users in the coming weeks," said Michael Davis, Co-Founder and Head of Marketing and Sales for MNL. "We'll also be polishing off our product offering to bars, clubs, and lounges to allow them to market themselves through our system. For example, if 100 users are at a bar and the owner wants to push a new brand of liquor with a special, we can instantly facilitate that by sending out a mobile drink ticket only to those users at the bar."

MNL users can also use "friending" and messaging features to enhance interaction with each other while out partying. After registering, users can create profiles, upload pictures, and plan social activities on-the-fly with personalized location-specific events, based on where their friends are.

"We've made a real effort to keep the system simple, light, and easy to use. The features released this summer are almost entirely driven by user feedback, received in face-to-face interactions with members who are out at the bars," said Joshua Nolan, cofounder and head of technology at MNL.

Katie Jane, owner of Whistlin Dixies, says she's partnered with MNL because of its instant return on investment. "Now when I run a mobile campaign with MNL, I can actually see who comes into the bar to act on the offer," she said.

Sean Barrett, owner of The Town Tavern says that using MNL as a promotional channel is a "no brainer." "When people are broadcasting from my bar, other users in the network see that there are people there and will be more likely to come in to grab a drink," he said. "It's like every user, regardless of where they're located, is virtual street traffic. It really becomes the ultimate 'party radar.'"

About Meet Now Live, Inc.

Meet Now Live (MNL) is a pioneering location-based, mobile social-networking service connecting young professional urbanites in their quest for real-time bar, event, and nightlife information in New York City and surrounding areas. Launched in April 2008, the service is available on any cell phone or mobile device with Internet access.

With 2,000 bars, clubs, lounges, and restaurants in its network, MNL is the only service of its kind to allow users to broadcast their location from their favorite place of interest and invite other users to join. MNL is a free, "device agnostic," mobile service where users can create profiles, send messages, friend one another, upload pictures, create personalized location-specific events, and plan their night on-the-fly, based on the location of their friends. Now anyone can view real pictures of real people at bars, clubs, lounges, parties, and restaurants without ever stepping foot inside.
