Redlands, CaliforniaESRI Virtual Campus and Trimble will present a free live training seminar June 23, 2005, at 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and 3:00 p.m., Pacific time.
The seminar explores the capabilities of the Trimble GPS Analyst extension for ESRI ArcGIS software, giving geographic information system (GIS) technicians, managers, and those who work with GPS data a better understanding of how to use the software to its fullest potential.
Improving and documenting the accuracy of GPS-collected data is an ongoing issue in the GIS community. A great deal of data arrives in the geodatabase with little or no metadata about the data quality. This seminar introduces the Trimble GPS Analyst extension and shows how it allows postprocessing of GPS data directly within ArcGIS Desktop to improve accuracy. The extension also allows users to edit, reconstruct, and validate GPS-collected features from raw GPS data as well as provide feature-level accuracy metadata that persists back to the geodatabase.
Mick Garrett, strategic accounts manager for Trimbles Mapping and GIS Group, will present the seminar with an overview of the extension, its robust functionality, and the underlying data model. Key points in the presentation include differential correction, the GPS Analyst extension data model, validation of GPS-derived features, and construction and editing of features from GPS data.
A broadband Internet connection and an ESRI Virtual Campus membership are required to view the seminar. Becoming a Virtual Campus member is free and only takes a few minutes. Following the live presentation, the seminar will be archived and available for viewing at any time on the Virtual Campus Web site. More information about this seminar, including instructions for attending and a schedule of upcoming seminars, is available at http://campus.esri.com.
