Metaio Sends Augmented Reality to the Cloud with Creator Tool and Solution Print E-mail
Written by MEtaio
Monday, 10 December 2012

MUNICH & SAN FRANCISCO, 10 DECEMBER 2012: Metaio, the world leader in augmented reality (AR) software and solutions today released the latest version of its Metaio Creator, the only commercially available drag-and-drop design software, now with the ability to manage content and even apps directly from the cloud.
“People aren’t necessarily experts in Augmented Reality yet,” said Peter Meier, Metaio CTO. “The Creator makes it easy for them to not only launch an experience but also to scale their content – massively, through simple cloud content management.”
The Metaio Creator allows nearly anyone to take print media and attach websites, video, 3-D models, graphics or any other digital content using the latest image recognition, visual search and augmented reality technology by Metaio.
In addition to its print media capabilities, the Metaio Creator takes Augmented Reality one step further allowing users to attach digital content to more complex real world objects like products, engines, buildings or even complete environments. This enables digital producers to create interactive manuals or tour guides which could be accessible through a smartphone app.
The newest version of the Metaio Creator updates the user interface and experience to make it even more intuitive and familiar; creative professionals need only to drag, drop, point and click their way to their first AR experience – all in just minutes. From the actual content, building the app framework, and running analytics on the finished experience, the Metaio Creator does it all without any coding or programming necessary.

With the new integration with the Metaio Cloud, app developers and producers never need to worry about app resubmissions and updates. Using the Metaio Creator, content can be swapped out easily and pushed to the consumer in real-time – no lengthy approval process necessary.

The Metaio Creator supports every level of augmented reality app development. Export to native apps on major mobile platforms like Android or iOS, or launch it directly to the Junaio mobile AR browser with over 3 million users. To assist with existing content pipelines, Metaio has even added support for all Autodesk 3-D Content through a new .fbx converter – all without any coding.
In addition to the average user, Publishers, Agencies and Brands all over the world are already using the Metaio Creator and platform to manage their digital and augmented reality content. In 2012, over 300 million magazines and catalogs were printed with digital and augmented reality content powered by Metaio technology, including many from the Bauer Media Group.
“For the Bauer Media Group Augmented Reality is the optimal link between print and digital,” said Andreas Fuhlisch, Director of Advertising for Bauer Media Group Germany. “Our readers love the supplementary editorial content and our business clients can explore innovation in advertising – which is why we are very excited about the Metaio Creator publishing tool.”
