Valpak Coupons Driving Innovation with ROXIMITY Print E-mail
Written by Valpak
Wednesday, 05 December 2012

LARGO, Fla., Dec. 4, 2012 -- Valpak Direct Marketing Systems, Inc., a leader in local print and digital coupons, brings a powerful and innovative new way to get savings on the go.  Valpak has partnered with ROXIMITY to bring its offers right into the car, allowing consumers to have immediate access to savings while they're on the road.  And it's safe, easy and convenient.

Valpak coupons and offers are now available to be downloaded in any one of 4.5 million Ford and Lincoln automobiles with SYNC® AppLink, as well as 2 million Honda and Subaru vehicles coming on board soon. The hands-free system is a safe way for consumers to find the deals that are nearby, right when they matter, said Danny Newman, who along with Austin Gayer, was the brains behind the startup company.  "The system delivers deals as you're driving by, from merchants that are interesting to you," he said.

"ROXIMITY delivers personalized, time-sensitive offers when you're in the proximity of the places you love," according to Gayer. Using an interactive voice response  system, consumers can tell the SYNC in-dash system to search and choose categories, and then send the deal to their smartphones for use.

"This new technology truly allows us to continue to fulfill our mission to be anywhere@anytime to millions more consumers," said Michael Vivio, president of Cox Target Media, which owns Valpak.

"These are the same categories Valpak has excelled in offering for more than 40 years. Our sweet spot is providing the best of hyper local," said Vivio. "Now, through the innovation of ROXIMITY, consumers can have access to our coupons and offers by merely speaking to the system. That's about as easy as it gets."

Categories available on the ROXIMITY app include:

  • Restaurants
  • Food and grocery
  • Spa and salon services
  • Sporting events and concerts
  • Arts and entertainment
  • Health and fitness
  • Treats
  • Auto services
  • Home services
  • Bar and club
  • Women's and men's clothing

"There's no reason not to get a deal, especially when you're right nearby," according to Newman. "In a lot of scenarios and a lot of the other deals, there's one deal for an entire city, which is crazy because you and I aren't necessarily into the same thing," said Gayer.

ROXIMITY, a startup company founded in 2011 by partners Newman and Gayer won Ford's SYNC app developer challenge, which was held in summer 2011 at the TechCrunch Disrupt Hackathon.  ROXIMITY then traveled with Ford to the International CES, the worlds' largest technology tradeshow, in January 2012 to unveil the app.

Having recently launched, the company has many quick serve restaurants such as Qdoba, Whole Foods and more. They also have  offers from over 500 malls including such retailers as the Gap and Banana Republic.

"Valpak will increase the volume of coupons that customers have access to, and provide a vital link to local coupons for restaurants, auto services and other categories that consumers are hungry for," said Gayer.

Valpak provides all of their coupon and offer data to ROXIMITY on a daily basis. ROXIMITY distributes the offers through the Ford SYNC system. Offers are delivered based on a user's preferences, and their proximity to various retail locations.
