MapInfos Geodemographic Customer and Site Selection Analysis Steers Miami-based Restaurant Chain toward Success in New Markets
Troy, NYJune 9 , 2005MapInfo Corporation (NASDAQ: MAPS), the leading global provider of location intelligence solutions, today announced that Pollo Tropical®, a Hispanic-Caribbean themed restaurant chain, is using MapInfos real estate site selection and market research services to better understand its customers and identify the best opportunities for aggressive expansion. Based on MapInfos sales forecasting and customer profiling, the regional restaurant chain is targeting new locations in New York, New Jersey and the west coast of Florida.
Pollo Tropical® has 64 Florida locations and more than 20 franchised units in Latin America and the Caribbean. Prior to working with MapInfo, the company relied on gut and instincts to determine new real estate locations. Pollo Tropical® realized that in order to successfully expand in its core markets of south and central Florida, as well as to break into new areas of the country, it would need more fact-based geodemographic research.
We used MapInfo research to gain a more detailed understanding of our customers in our core markets and use this knowledge to develop a better system for making sales projections and improve site selection efforts as we grow into new markets, said Glenn Rozansky, vice president of Real Estate and Construction for Pollo Tropical®. We use MapInfos target marketing research to help guide and grow our business. The restaurant chain is preparing to embark on its first round of expansion outside Florida since nearly a decade ago. Pollo Tropical® is using MapInfo research to accurately identify and reach its most important customers as it grows into these new locations.
