7 Awesome mobile Apps On My Android Smartphone Right Now… Print E-mail
Written by @gletham

I test lots of mobile apps.. tons of them actually, so deciding which apps are going to remain on my smartphone can be a little tricky! Obviously, if you have an app and expect it to remain on my deck at my fingertips it MUST provide me with at least a little bit of awesomeness! The following are 7 sweet and useful mobile apps that are currently on my smartphone (a Samsung Galaxy SII – Android)

  1. Photo to Pinterest – everyone is using Pinterest these days and I’m no exception. This is a handy utility that enables me to quickly share my photos with Pinterest. I can quickly snap a pic or pull one from my gallery, then Pin it and also share vbia Twitter and facebook. It also integrates with other third pary apps to provide custom effects on my photos (like LightBox)
  2. MLB At Bat (lite) – I’m a big baseball nut and I like to keep tabs on how the Rockies, Mariners and Blue Jays are doing. This app gives me real time scores and news updates and I can even listen live to any game (that’s a paid option)
  3. TextPlus – I’m in Canada and right now my kid is in the USA. TextPlus is a handy service providing us with free text messaging done over network or WiFi – no pesky text roaming fees from the carriers!
  4. DropBox – Dropbox for Android is way cool and provides access to files that I have on my PC and have shared through my dropbox account. you can even auto post your pics here while on vacation for instant sharing with people sharing your folders.
  5. INRIX traffic – when I need real time traffic updates, like when I’m running late for a trip to the airport I always check INRIX. A simple but way useful app!
  6. MeetUp – I use MeetUp.com to stay in touch with local events and meet ups. the mobile app is handy and gives me access to loads of local events, tweetups, and geek ups. the mobile app is a must for any MeetUp user.
  7. TuneInRadio – I’m a big fan of Internet radio and this app gives me everything I need. I get access to any genre any time any place. If you see me running chances are good that I’m listening to music streamed from this app!

Got a favorite mobile app (iOS or Android)? Tell me about it @gletham
