Paris, France February 28, 2006 Webraska, a leading provider of mobile GPS navigation solutions and high-end geospatial software platforms for wireless carriers and major service providers worldwide, is pleased to announce that its has signed a partnership agreement with Terralink International, New Zealands leading GIS data integrator, to power GPS navigation, internet mapping, LBS, local search and fleet management offerings in New Zealand.
Terralink International will sell and support Webraskas Smartzone Geospatial Platform and Webraska Navigation 6 in New Zealand. The platform will be enabled with Terralink data, New Zealands most comprehensive and trusted navigation dataset. Terralink location data is used day-to-day by New Zealands first response emergency services.
Terralink Managing Director Mike Donald, says he expects the new platform to allow affordable mobile navigation for all New Zealanders. This will be a big leap ahead for New Zealands geographic IQ. Webraskas technology can make mobile navigation an affordable monthly subscription service rather than an expensive one-off purchase. Until now, mobile navigation has only been available on dedicated hardware with an entire dataset preloaded. With the Webraska platform, maps and voiced turn-by-turn instructions are kept on a central server and only transmitted to a smartphone or PDA as required, explained M. Donald. In addition to GPS turn-by-turn navigation, the powerful Webraska technology will be used to power the most demanding yellow page and local search queries, Internet mapping and fleet management applications that require total reliability and high throughput. Webraska CEO Eric Nodé-Langlois said mobile navigation was enjoying huge global growth.
All around the world the market for Internet mapping, local search, and mobile navigation applications is exploding with the introduction of smartphones. Webraska Navigation's compatibility with the Windows Mobile and Symbian operating systems, with its unparalleled map-matching quality, simplicity of use and real-time traffic information is a clear winner with mobile telecom operators, device manufacturers and subscribers. We are pleased to partner with Terralink to be able to serve customers even more closely in the Asia Pacfic region, explained M. Nodé-Langlois.
