WHO: Ekahau Inc. -- the industry leader in providing
Wi-Fi-based real-time location solutions (RTLS)
Emergin -- the plug-and-play integration company that has
integrated over 200 disparate technologies to enable
better collaboration and provide improved communications
for healthcare enterprises
WHAT: The demonstration will show how hospital staff can receive
context-aware alerts via their cell phone, VoIP phone,
pager or PDA when they enter specific geographic areas.
The system works over existing Wi-Fi networks.
SO WHAT?: Doctors can be notified to rush to the operating room when
others on his or her team have entered the operating room
to begin prepping a patient for surgery, for example. Or,
nurses can be notified when doctors are on their floor and
available to see patients.
These proactive notifications save valuable time tracking
down specific persons or specific equipment and improve
the overall quality of patient care by giving hospital
staff the information they need right at their fingertips,
when they need it.
Located By Ekahau: This collaboration with Emergin is just
one in a series of similar agreements that Ekahau has
entering into as part of its Located by Ekahau initiative.
Located by Ekahau is a program in which Ekahau is building
out a vast infrastructure of location-aware devices by
partnering with manufacturers to incorporate Ekahau's
industry-leading Wi-Fi-enabled RTLS solutions in new and
existing products such as Voice over Wi-Fi (VoWiFi)
handsets, Wi-Fi adapters, laptop computers, PDAs, barcode
and RFID scanners, medical equipment and other special
purpose tools. This infrastructure allows end users, such
as hospitals, clinics and other health care facilities, to
quickly 'turn on' location-tracking capabilities using
existing Wi-Fi networks and without the need to purchase
specialized tags.
