LocaModa Unveils the World's First In-Location Blogging Platform for Out-of-Home Messaging, Social Networking, Blogging and Entertainment
Wiffiti, 'Wireless Graffiti' Application Launches at DEMO 2006, the Premier Launchpad For Emerging Technologies
PHOENIX, DEMO 2006, Feb. 7 -- LocaModa(TM), Inc., a technology company powering "The Web Outside", today unveils StreetMessenger(TM), the world's first in-location blogging platform. StreetMessenger enables in-location messaging, social networking, blogging and entertainment applications on out-of-home networks, allowing users to communicate, socialize and connect in cafes, bars, clubs and other public places away from home.
Complementing the release of StreetMessenger, LocaModa is also releasing Wiffiti(TM). Wiffiti, "wireless graffiti", is an application that runs on the StreetMessenger platform to enable users to send text messages from their mobile phones to large flat-panel screens in networked out-of-home locations that are then visible on the Web. For example, it can be used to post messages about social causes, the latest news event, a customer's opinions, or simply to socialize and connect with others at the location.
"LocaModa provides the connective tissue for mobile phones, out-of-home networks and the Web to converge. StreetMessenger with Wiffiti, creates new opportunities for brands and consumers to interact -- beyond the couch and the desk," said Stephen Randall, CEO and founder of LocaModa. "Wiffiti's purpose is to extend and empower public expression and creativity in a socially responsible way, fostering an open and strong sense of citizenship and community."
When users send messages to a location's networked flat panel screen powered by LocaModa, the same messages are also visible on the Web. LocaModa's technology is seamless, offering a secure, closed-loop connection between the Web, the user and the location. There are also hooks in StreetMessenger for RSS feeds, message tagging, presence and IM support to enrich the in-location experience, while enhancing social networking and branding opportunities.
DEMO Executive Producer Chris Shipley adds, "For every DEMO conference, we screen hundreds of products to find the most innovative and promising technologies that will positively impact not only the technology industry, but society as a whole. LocaModa's vision of 'The Web Outside' with its location-based interactive marketing and street blogging technologies has the potential to revolutionize the way brands and consumers connect and interact. Wiffiti is a catalyst for street blogging to be embraced by today's youth, and maybe the Gen X and Baby Boomer crowd, too."
LocaModa recently completed a successful beta of StreetMessenger with Wiffiti. The first companies to use StreetMessenger and Wiffiti will be announced before the end of Q1'06 when the first branded nationwide network will be rolled out in cafes, skate parks and youth clubs in Boston, Los Angeles and New York with plans to grow to all major U.S. cities.
In addition to cafes, bars and clubs, there are a host of other places where StreetMessenger can be used, such as game centers, LAN parties and tournaments, Xtreme sports competitions, entertainment centers, music and film festivals and shopping malls.
