A new integration between Telmap's Mobile Location Companion and BBM allows users to share their location with friends
LONDON, Tuesday April 28th 2011 - Telmap,
pioneers in mobile location-based services, today announces that it has
completed the integration between its Telmap Mobile Location Companion
and the popular Blackberry Messenger.
This
is the first integration of Blackberry Messenger with an application
that enriches conversations and interactions in Blackberry Messenger
with users' real-time location. BlackBerry Messenger is an instant
messaging app, used by BlackBerry smart-phone owners. It has an active
user base of over 35 million, and is today one of the largest
mobile-centric communities in the industry, with over 1.5 million new
users joining the BlackBerry Messenger community each month.
Telmap
who is a global location-based services leader is very focused on
serving all users' needs when out and about, while enriching and
optimizing end users on-the-go experiences.
Blackberry
Messenger users can now send a request to a contact of theirs to share
their current location and if approved, can see the location on a map
within the Telmap Mobile Location Companion, receive any available
details about that location and of course navigate to it, walking or
driving.
In
addition, Blackberry Messenger users can send a message with a download
link to their contacts, inviting them to download the Telmap Mobile
Location Companion for a richer Blackberry Messenger experience.
"We
view this integration as an important manifestation of our vision to
provide richer, more comprehensive experience to our users when they
are out and about with the mobile as their main device for
connectivity. We work hard to integrate our application with various
vehicles which we identify as popular and useful, like the BlackBerry
Messenger, to ensure added value to users who can now add location
information to their interactions with friends", said Motti Kushnir, Telmap Chief Marketing Officer.
Telmap will be demonstrating the new integration and capabilities at WES which is part of the Blackberry World Conference, May 3-5, 2011 in Orlando, FL.
