CHICAGO and LOS ANGELES, Feb. 2 -- Novarra and Amp'd Mobile today announced that Novarra's Internet and Web search solution, nWeb(TM), is integrated into all handsets offered by Amp'd Mobile, the first mobile entertainment company created specifically to bring next-generation broadband wireless services and applications to young adults. Novarra will be showcasing solutions in Barcelona at 3GSM World Congress, booth D172 hall 1, February 13-16, 2006.
Amp'd subscribers can use all of the World Wide Web such as NFL.com, People, MySpace, Evite, MSN Hotmail, E! Online, Cars.com, eBay, Monster, FedEx, Accuweather, Comedy Central, Shutterfly, Amazon, Yahoo!, Google, etc. Phone users automatically get full Web content from the original site. Novarra software transforms and reduces Web pages to be fast, easy to view and use on a cell phone. Typical Web activities like search, blogging, online shopping or dating, email, hobby sites, train schedules and maps are all available. Novarra's Internet optimization solution is launched by Amp'd on Kyocera and Motorola handsets running over Verizon's EVDO network.
"We are leading with our multimedia service offering. A core element is the breadth of choice and personal relevance that is the World Wide Web," according to Chris Houston, senior vice president of Amp'd Mobile. "We selected the leader in Internet transformation for their powerful platform that simplified creating and expanding our Internet offering. Novarra is integrated with Amp'd Live to create our innovative experience where a user seamlessly listens to a song, reads about the artist, searches and buys content."
"With an open content strategy, Amp'd is focusing on choice and user experience to drive results," comments Bruce Simpson, chief operating officer for Novarra. "Industry data indicates that Internet content is driving data revenue and Amp'd is positioned to capitalize on this. Our commercial deployments show users tripling their usage over a six month interval as they discover how much they can do on their mobile."
Amp'd selected Novarra's turnkey service offering, which is operator-grade and commercially hosted in Novarra's global data centers for quick and easy deployment and scalability with service growth. The nWeb service offering provides seamless integration with operator network, handset testing and validation, portal integration, and statistics and reports.
Novarra's nWeb version 3.1 deployed by Amp'd provides Web and WAP 2.0 content support, automatic content adaptation, advanced mobile rendering and usability, network and content optimization, network acceleration and content filtering for high-tier and mass-market handsets. The nWeb micro-client is a modular, scalable Web and WAP 2.0 browser with advanced usability features and integration APIs for phone functions like UI, audio/video, messaging and gaming. nWeb browser is commercially supported on Java, BREW(R), Symbian, Palm(R) and other mobile platforms.
