Popular MyTown Leads the Mobile Product Check-in Experience
SAN FRANCISCO- Booyah, a leading social web and mobile entertainment company, is taking real world entertainment to another level with MyTown's new product check-in feature.
"We first made the location check-in fun"
MyTown's product check-in is easy: using the iPhone camera, players can now scan barcodes of real-world products to unlock points and earn exclusive virtual items, creating a game out of real life items.
"We first made the location check-in fun," said Keith Lee, CEO, Booyah. "Now we're making products fun. It adds a whole new layer on top of the MyTown experience."
MyTown's location-based features attracted many retailers and consumer brands that wanted to weave their brands into the app. With product check-in, companies have a brand new channel to connect with consumers by creating campaigns that drive users to interact with real-world products.
"It's a holy grail for marketers and brands to have their target audience actually hold their products in their hands," added Lee. "It's as close as you will get before point of sale. Not to mention that a consumer's product check-in history is invaluable data."
In addition, MyTown's new version includes level-up rewards, decorative stamps, new levels, and tutorials for new residents in MyTown. Currently, MyTown is the largest location-based app with more than two and a half million active users.
Last week, Booyah revealed their first Facebook app, the music-themed social game Nightclub City, which was ranked the #1 game on Facebook* for pioneering direct connections between music lovers and real-world musicians.
As a digital game based around real-world music, Nightclub City is representative of Booyah's position as a real-world entertainment leader blending interactive entertainment across multiple platforms.
In line with the company vision of blending elements from the real and digital worlds, Booyah is also launching a cross-platform promotion. Players who install the latest version of MyTown on iPhone and iPod touch and Nightclub City on Facebook will receive extra gifts in the daily giveaway in both games.
The latest version update of Booyah's MyTown is available now exclusively for iPhone and iPod touch users and can be downloaded at http://bit.ly/66TJGb.
