The weekly LBSzone social location news round-up - now billed as "The Social Location Report" was released today... enjoy
Welcome to another Location-technology and
mobile industry update from the LBSzone. No doubt you're well aware
that iPhone 4 is now heavily in use, albeit without the expected issues
(expected on my part anyway). So, many of you may be happy to learn
that this week Apple will finally roll out iPhone 4 in a number of
geographic reagions. Users in 17 countries will be able to "upgrade" or
jump on the bandwagon as iPhone 4 expands its reach. You'll be in luck
if you happen to be in one of the following markets: Australia,
Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy,
Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Singapore, Spain, Sweden
and Switzerland - available this Friday, July 30 (See More Here).
In the location tech news there's plenty to share including: CloudMade Raises $12.3 Million
in Series B Funding - The company will use the funds to further
accelerate its work to build the world's most comprehensive map and geo
database, and serve this data to developers, device manufacturers and
mobile operators through its comprehensive mapping platform; Event
reminder, Nokia Developer Summit
+ Nokia World, London, Sept 14-15 - The Nokia Developer Summit is held
in conjunction with Nokia World. As Nokia's biggest event, this offers
you new opportunities to meet professionals from every part of the
mobile industry; Bluetooth SIG Launches Application Developers' Contest
- The contest will promote open source collaboration that will allow
users to develop new and improved uses for mobile phones and PCs with
the help of Bluetooth wireless technology.
