Newest High-Tech Nokia Wireless Devices and Enhancements Now Available at CompUSA Locations Across US
DALLAS and IRVING, Texas, Dec. 28 -- CompUSA, a leading retailer of technology products and services, and Nokia (NYSE:NOK) , a world leader in mobile communications, have created the "Nokia Experience @ CompUSA", a unique concept which brings a collection of the most advanced Nokia wireless devices together in one place. The "Nokia Experience @ CompUSA" is currently in place at nearly 200 CompUSA locations, and is expected to be fully rolled out across all CompUSA locations during February 2006.
While the "Nokia Experience @ CompUSA" will constantly change to reflect the newest and most cutting-edge Nokia wireless devices, the current lineup exemplifies this commitment to offering products that will appeal to technology-savvy consumers. For photography buffs, the Nokia N90 imaging handset combines Carl Zeiss Optics, a 2 megapixel imaging sensor and VHS- quality video capture with the Symbian operating system and S60 user interface for a full range of smartphone functionality. Another Symbian/S60 based product, the Nokia 6682 smartphone, can be found at the "Nokia Experience @ CompUSA". This device packs a 1.3 megapixel camera, digital music player and Bluetooth technology into a compact 4.6 ounce package.
The "Nokia Experience @ CompUSA" is also the exclusive offline retail home for the innovative Nokia 770 Internet Tablet. Featuring a bright, crisp 4.1" touchscreen with 800x480 resolution, the Nokia 770 Internet Tablet allows access to full Internet pages from virtually anyplace with an available Wi-Fi connection. Additionally, the open Maemo development platform has already created a vital community of developers creating applications for the Nokia 770 Internet Tablet, allowing it to even better meet the needs of a variety of owners.
"We are excited to work with Nokia to allow our customers to experience cutting-edge mobile device technology while they are in our CompUSA stores," said Brian Woods, executive vice president and general merchandising manager for CompUSA. "Our focus on wireless is apparent with the launch of 'Nokia Experience at CompUSA', and will make CompUSA a destination for customers to experience the latest in wireless technology."
"As mobile phones continue to evolve into feature-rich wireless devices capable of advanced features like multimedia content delivery and e-mail connectivity, the ability for technology-focused consumers to experience our product line in a relevant retail environment like CompUSA becomes increasingly important," said John Bay, vice president of new channel development for Nokia. "We feel that our relationship with CompUSA is a natural fit, as CompUSA is the retailer of choice for the tech-minded consumers that will be drawn to Nokia's newest generation of full-featured wireless products."
