Accord Software and Systems Develops World’s First GPS Radio for Second Civil Signal L2C

Accord Software and Systems Pvt. Ltd., a pioneer in the area of GPS related research and product development has created world’s first GPS Radio for the Second Civil Signal L2C.
December 23, 2005 -- Accord Software and Systems Pvt. Ltd. – Bangalore, has created world’s first GPS Radio for Second Civil Signal L2C.
The United States’ first GPS 2R-M1 satellite SVN 53/ PRN 17 capable of transmitting civilian signal on L2 carrier (L2C) started beaming L2C signal starting from December 16, 2005. Within days Accord announces world’s first GPS L2C receiver front-end, capable of capturing and processing GPS L2C signal for research and development.
Accord has been developing the GPS L2C Radio, named as ‘GPS Signal Tap – L2C’ during 2004-2005. In absence of real GPS L2C signal from the satellite, the GPS L2C Radio was exhaustively tested using our own in-house built baseband Signal Simulator and GPS L2C capable Signal Simulator. As a result, GPS Signal Tap – L2C started working flawlessly as soon as the satellite started beaming GPS L2C Signal.
This is a significant step forward for Accord establishing leadership in GPS research. Accord’s GPS Signal Tap, used by university and research groups across the globe to perform research and development on GPS is already an established product in the market. GPS Signal Tap – L2C provides the research community yet another very useful and ‘must-have’ equipment to carry out research related to algorithm development using modernized GPS signal.
Dr. Jayanta Ray, Program Manager for the GPS Signal Tap products stated , “ Our GPS Signal Tap – L2C team was able to successfully capture GPS L2C signal and acquire and track the same. We are perhaps the first research group in the world to achieve this. This is yet another milestone on Accord’s ongoing research and development spanning over the past 13 years.”
