Idevio and Ericsson brings streaming maps to Android

Gothenburg, Sweden. Idevio, a leading provider of map components for
web, mobile and embedded systems today announces the release of an
Android version of their versatile map visualization and navigation
component, the RaveGeo MapClient.
The component that enables streaming maps on Android was developed together with Ericsson Research.
The new product brings streaming maps to Android devices, a platform where developers previously primarily had to cope with traditional image based map providers, resulting in slow applications and massive waste of bandwidth.
The RaveGeo MapClient for Android, key benefits:
Full vector map engine: fast, crisp maps with rotation and realtime zoom.
High compression, extendable with map loading, for offline access of maps.
Streaming access, combines superior performance and lean data transmission
Configurable map appearance with any custom symbols and layers
Comes with map data from Tele Atlas, Navteq, OpenStreetMap or any custom data source.
Idevio also offers streaming maps for use in web application and other environments. The Android version was developed in close cooperation with Ericsson Research. Idevio powers maps at Ericsson Labs, a concept for open innovation where developers enabled with unique Ericsson tools build cutting-edge services and applications.
