Expansion into Ukraine Demonstrates Commitment to Central and Eastern Europe, Highlights Regional Growth in Consumer Navigation
Gent, Belgium, 17 March 2010
Tele Atlas, the world leader in high quality digital maps and dynamic
content, today unveiled expanded coverage of Ukraine, which includes
coverage of the countrys complete major and interconnecting road
networks encompassing more than 250,000 kilometers of roadways. The
release extends the companys European maps, which cover 44 countries
and more than 10.6 million kilometers, and marks the companys first
navigable map of the Ukraine.
The new map includes navigable street network
coverage for turn-by-turn and location-based applications and covers
nearly 40 percent of the countrys population. It also features street
level coverage in 46 major cities across the country, including
Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kiev, Lviv and Odessa, as well as all
regional centers. The Ukraine map offers users an enriched navigation
experience with map information and content to find more than 47,000
points of interest (POIs) such as hotels, restaurants, shops, petrol
stations, pharmacies and hospitals, including nearly 30,000 settlement
centers.
Ukraine remains a fast growing economy with
significant potential in portable navigation, location-based services
(LBS) and fleet navigation solutions, and a market of particular
interest for European companies expanding to the East, said Yves
Muyssen, Tele Atlas Senior Product Manager. With the addition of
Ukraine maps and continued investment in expanded coverage across key
countries in the region, we can ensure our partners have a seamless
Pan-European solution to power high-quality navigation and LBS
products.
Designed to be fully aligned with Tele Atlas
global map offering and seamlessly integrated within Tele Atlas
European maps, the new Tele Atlas Ukrainian map is available for Tele
Atlas portable navigation, wireless, Internet, automotive and
enterprise customers worldwide for compilation and deployment. Tele
Atlas will continue to expand its offerings in Central and Eastern
Europe with additional map coverage and content throughout 2010.
