Sony Ericsson Developer World Senior Manager Speaking at JavaPolis PDF Print E-mail
Written by Sony Ericsson Developer World
Tuesday, 06 December 2005

JavaPolis mixes Java and Java ME Platform, presented in a variety of sessions including technical sessions, executive sessions, BOF sessions (in the evenings) and quickies (15-minute discussions on a Java topic).

WHO:
Mikael Nerde, Senior Manager and Head of Sony Ericsson Developer World, will present the Sony Ericsson technical tool information on offers to developers, market trends and requirements in today's sophisticated programming world for mobile devices.

WHERE:
MetroPolis in Antwerp, Belgium.

WHEN:
December 12-16, 2005.

On the presentation topic entitled "Smart and entertaining phones means smart business", Mikael Nerde, Senior Manager & Head of Sony Ericsson's Developer Program, will will examine several of the key factors that make certain applications more appealing to the mobile phone market than others, including marketing and technical rationales. Mikael Nerde will be examining what is required to make an application successful, as well as elaborate on the types of applications that are not yet created but there might be a market for.

Phone manufacturers know that developers are looking to create an application that will take the mobile phone market by storm, something that will attract the business user or the private consumer, but why do some applications seem to be more popular than others? What is it that gives one application an edge over another? Are the most successful applications targeting a specific audience or does it span market segments, do they need to stand out to have appeal, or is the success of the application down to the technical specifications and abilities of a specific phone, or is it all a matter of how much marketing money you spend?

Mikael has been with Sony Ericsson since its inception in October 2001 and was part building up the Sony Ericsson Developer Program. He is one of the driving forces behind creating and designing the application & content strategy for Sony Ericsson. Mikael believes the best method to achieve this is to establish a partner framework with long-term strategic partnerships offering the serious developer technical services and support.
