PenBay Solutions Announces New In-Vision OnePass Data Collection Capabilities for In-Building Geographic Information Systems
Camden, Maine, February 8, 2009 - PenBay Solutions LLC (PenBay), the leader in bringing geographic information systems (GIS) technology inside the building, announced a new set of capabilities for spatial data capture inside buildings, a significant enhancement to their In-VisionT OnePass solution.
Adding a new strategic mapping platform, this technology works as a key enabler to expand PenBay's current solutions for real property and public safety, helping facility managers, space planners and emergency response agencies understand the critical infrastructure of their buildings.
Stu Rich, PenBay's Chief Technology Officer, is enthusiastic about the potential of this new set of capabilities. "Using a very innovative approach of applying sophisticated spatial measurement and positioning technology to the mapping of building interiors, combined with PenBay's expertise for developing and delivering derivative data solutions, we have put together a package that is exciting to us and to our clients."
This new OnePass offering combines several areas of expertise to offer a superb GIS solution to clients interested in mapping the built environment. These collective capabilities bring to market very rapid, yet thorough, data collection and visualization solutions using cutting edge technology from trusted industry partners.
With this enhanced technology, PenBay and Trimble have successfully collaborated on a 3D LiDAR data collection project for the City of Philadelphia. Using an integration of PenBay's in-building data collection methodologies and Trimble's precise mapping technology, they were able to provide the City of Philadelphia with accurate data and a 3D view of the City's busiest underground areas for effectively addressing facility management, public safety and real property challenges.
"Philadelphia is excited to be at the forefront of this tremendous advance in 3D in-building and sub-surface spatial data collection. Combined with other City initiatives, such as video surveillance and advanced enterprise GIS, we believe this will play a pivotal role in achieving the vision of making Philadelphia the safest large city in the nation." - Jim Querry, Director of Enterprise GIS, City of Philadelphia
PenBay has a passion for spatial information and believes that working to create solutions for understanding the built environment is essential - an area where some of the most valuable assets in the world reside and have yet to be measured or mapped.
