Sebastopol, CA, December 18, 2009-See the future of a location-aware
world at the O'Reilly Where 2.0 Conference, March 30-April 1, 2010 at
the San Jose Marriott in San Jose, California. O'Reilly has opened
early registration with special rates and announced the preliminary
lineup of featured speakers.
We take location awareness for granted now, and Where 2.0 has become the epicenter for the people, projects, and issues creating value in the location industry. The sixth Where 2.0 is the must-attend conference for anyone working with location-enabled devices, mobile phone apps, open source platforms, and geospatial software. Where 2.0 doesn't chase trends; it introduces them.
Featured speakers at Where 2.0 2010 already include Blaise Agüera y Arcas of Microsoft, Jack Dangermond of ESRI, Vanessa Fox of Nine by Blue, Raffi Krikorian of Synthesis Studios, Tim O'Reilly of O'Reilly Media, Ryan Server of Twitter, Dr. Walter Scott of DigitalGlobe, and Jeremy Stoppleman of Yelp.
Recognizing the dramatic increase in the number of products, companies, and people affected by the expansion of location technologies, Where 2.0 2010 will offer three distinct, simultaneous tracks:
Application Dev/Consumer will cover such location-aware topics as augmented reality, 3D mapping, turn-by-turn, open data, mobile, realtime geodata, and social location.
Civic/Government/Enterprise will explore government data, enterprise mapping, emergency response, and other ways large organizations can implement the best geodata work from the consumer world.
Local/Marketing will look at how businesses are reacting to consumers' adoption of location-aware technologies with topics such as Twitter marketing, mayor deals, local SEM/SEO, food carts, and reviews.
Where 2.0 also offers rich networking events. Ignite makes its Where 2.0 debut this year, and other events include Birds of a Feather Sessions (BoFs), NAVTEQ 2010 North American LBS Challenge and Awards, Launch Pad, and the ever popular Where Fair.
From morning to night, Where 2.0 exposes the tools pushing the boundaries of the location frontier, tracks the emergence of new business models and services, and examines new sources of data and the platforms for collecting them.
Sponsors of Where 2.0 2010 include ESRI and NAVTEQ.
