GENT, Belgium-- Tele Atlas, a leading global provider of digital maps and dynamic content for navigation and location-based solutions, and satellite navigation software and location-based services provider GeoLife Limited announced an agreement under which Tele Atlas supplies digital maps and location content on Navmii, Geolife's turn-by-turn navigation application for the iPhone and iPod touch in the UK.
Navmii leverages Tele Atlas maps to calculate users' routes and delivers route previews, turn-by-turn directions and rerouting if a turn or manoeuvre is missed. Drivers have access to detailed, accurate maps and location information that helps ensure they always know the best routes and exact location of the closest petrol station, cash point, shop, or place to eat and stay. The application also provides estimated time of arrival (ETA) and distance to destination (DTD) en route and delivers warnings to drivers when they exceed the posted speed limit.
"Navmii is a content and feature rich application for iPhone and iPod touch users and we are excited to deliver the application to navigation users and gift-givers," said Peter Atalla, CEO of Navmii. "Fresh maps and content from Tele Atlas help us to deliver a powerful foundation for Navmii and ensure we are offering an up-to-date solution for our customers."
Tele Atlas Director of Consumer Markets Simon Glassman said, "GeoLife is delivering a valuable solution for consumers. We're delighted to be selected for this application and look forward to supporting GeoLife as the application expands to new regions in the future."
The Navmii is available now via the Apple iTunes store for £19.99. A version for the U.S. market with Tele Atlas maps is expected in December.
