High-Tech Tour Guide Company Announces iPhone GPS tour guide system for New York City
NEW YORK, Oct. 27 -- New Yorkers and visitors to the city will be the first to experience a new iPhone application that turns the device into a handheld GPS-based tour guide. CityShow NYC, a first-of-its-kind high-tech audio/visual guide to New York City, will provide historic facts, anecdotes, photos, music, and descriptions for hundreds of points-of-interest in Manhattan.
The application uses GPS signals to locate the user and alert them to nearby points-of-interest. It then provides full-stereo audio information about the locations at the touch of a button.
In addition to historical points of interest, CityShow NYC also provides information about select restaurants, shops, and the nearest subway stations. There is also a "How to" section that gives travel directions from midtown hotels to major tourist destinations.
"Every New Yorker who has an iPhone should have this application for its entertainment value alone," says Brian Teasley, head of GPS Multi-Media. "It is a treasure trove of entertainment and information for tourists. It's a must-have if you are coming to New York City."
CityShow NYC is based on patented technology that debuted at the Top of the Rock Observation Deck at Rockefeller Center in 2006. It was the basis for audio tours rented to visitors of the famed observation deck. Now CityShow NYC covers all of New York City and is available for the iPhone.
CityShow NYC is available for downloading by visiting the iTunes App store or at http://www.cityshownyc.com/
