iSECUREtrac Awarded GPS Monitoring For Florida DOC
Written by iSECUREtrac
Monday, 14 November 2005
iSECUREtrac Corp (OTCBB: ISEC), an industry leader in offender monitoring solutions utilizing global positioning systems (GPS) and wireless technologies, announced today that the Florida Department of Corrections has awarded iSECUREtrac the Global Positioning Satellite Electronic Monitoring Services for the northern half of Florida.
The award, which is pending final contract approval, is for three years with an option to renew for an additional three years at the departments discretion.
As a result of the Jessica Lunsford Act (Lunsford Act) passed by the 2005 General Session of the Florida Legislature and signed into law by Governor Jeb Bush, the Department projects at least 1,700 offenders will be eligible to be sentenced under the act in the first three years of its existence
The Lunsford Act requires lifetime electronic monitoring of sexual offenders for certain offenses, setting aside $3,928,860 in recurring funds for the 2005-2006 fiscal year for the purpose of increasing the deployment of GPS monitoring by 1,200 units. There are currently over 500 GPS monitoring units assigned to offenders
This is a very significant win for us, said Tom Wharton, CEO of iSECUREtrac Corp. The Florida Department of Corrections is one of the most progressive and long standing users of GPS monitoring equipment for offenders. Florida has put our GPS monitoring system through some of the most critical and extensive testing ever conducted in order to insure they obtain an offender monitoring solution that meets their stringent requirements. We are proud to work with States like Florida that are so focused on public safety.
We will begin the initial roll out immediately upon finalization of the contract, said David Vana, CFO of iSECUREtrac. When the program is fully implemented, it is expected to increase our annualized recurring revenue stream by $1.5 million. That, combined with the two other state Department of Corrections contracts we have announced in the last 4 months are projected to increase our annual billings by over $3 million.
