BASKING RIDGE, N.J., Nov. 9 -- DP&C Enterprises, LLC today
announced that it has signed an agreement with Telargo, Inc. -- a leading
provider of global asset tracking and management technologies -- to market
Telargo's service to public and private bus fleets. Telargo is a
subscription-based mobile assets management service that helps bus fleet
managers significantly improve fleet efficiency, security and speed while
dramatically lowering fuel, maintenance and administrative costs. DP&C will
immediately begin marketing the product to the school bus market and
anticipates expanding its marketing activities into the public and private bus
arena.
"With this agreement, DP&C can bring the benefits of improved fleet
management capabilities to school administrators facing budget crises due to
escalating fuel and operating costs," said Keith Spero, President, DP&C.
"Record high fuel increases, combined with the labor-intensive administrative
tasks of managing school bus fleets create an immediate need for this service.
In addition, parents across the nation are demanding increased school bus
safety and security. By offering Telargo technology and our unique expertise
in integrating these capabilities with existing management processes, we can
bring these capabilities as well as create significant financial savings to
every district with a bus fleet. And we look to the future to be able to
extend these same benefits to public and private bus fleet administration as
well."
Focusing on the School Bus Market
According to the National Safety Council, more than 25 million students
nationwide board more than 440,000 school busses every morning. Busing is one
of a school district's largest annual operating expenses due to fuel,
maintenance and administrative costs. Additionally, safety and security are of
paramount concern to every district.
Maximize Fuel Efficiency
In early September, school districts and fleet operators were paying an
average of between $2.25 and $2.40 per gallon to fuel their diesel buses.
DP&C's application of the Telargo technology can help districts reduce fuel
spending by enabling real-time mapping of the best routes for fuel and service
efficiency. Additionally, Telargo technology provides data on prolonged engine
idling, engine speed and other conditions that result in excessive fuel
consumption. Customized reports can then be utilized to implement
district-wide fuel conservation and efficiency procedures.
Streamline Administrative Processes
In operating a school bus fleet, districts or fleet operators must
dedicate staff to manage mileage logs, maintenance and expense reports and
staff hours among other administrative tasks. DP&C can configure the Telargo's
intuitive web-based application to seamlessly integrate with existing
administrative processes to provide comprehensive reports on vehicle and
driver statistics including timesheets, mileage reports, etc. Applications
are also available that enable fleet managers to access vehicle maintenance
logs as well as tax/registration expiration dates.
Improve Student Safety and Security
Every year, districts and bus fleet operators nationwide investigate
incidences of students left at bus stops, allegations that the bus never came,
aggressive driving, breakdowns, and accidents. Telargo technology can provide
invaluable safety and security features. Real-time and archived route mapping
provides evidence of routes traveled. Vehicle systems sensors report driver
speeding, aggressive braking, impact, tire pressure, etc. And onboard cellular
communications technology/GPS mapping enables fleet managers to immediately
respond to accidents, breakdowns and other emergencies.
