DeviceAnywhere's Test Center Solution Significantly Reduces the Amount
of Time Required by Microsoft to Deploy and Maintain Quality of Service
in Windows Live for Mobile
(San Mateo, CA) - September 15, 2009 - DeviceAnywhereT, the industry leader in end-to-end mobile application testing and development, today announced that Microsoftr is using DeviceAnywhere Test CenterT, a SaaS platform, to manage the testing associated with its pre-deployment process and post-deployment support for Windows LiveT for mobile. DeviceAnywhere's solution enables Microsoft to support their browse linking agreements and provide a quality experience for its partners by identifying and solving issues that may be specific to the operator's network or suite of devices.
"DeviceAnywhere's solution has saved our department a lot of time and headaches by eliminating most of the tedious, manual tasks associated with our in-house mobile testing process. We no longer have to chase down lost devices and SIMs, dig through boxes of chargers, or even track multiple phone bills and expense reports," said Mark Boyce, Mobile Browse Program Manager of the Windows Live Deployment team at Microsoft. "Moreover, from the troubleshooting perspective, we've significantly reduced the amount of time it takes to get to the root of most issues-and solve them-now that we have real-time access to DeviceAnywhere's broad set of devices and networks."
Since replacing their in-house `Device Cabinet' and integrating DeviceAnywhere's Test Center solution into their testing process, Windows Live's deployment team now has remote access to more than 2,000 real devices, available on over 30 global carriers and network providers. This real-time interaction with live devices has given the Windows Live Deployment team members the newfound ability to reproduce issues reported from the field using the same model of device on the same network, investigate and develop against specific devices when needed, or even access services from various networks around the globe without roaming charges. Additionally, DeviceAnywhere provided a convenient interface for Windows Live program managers to demo new designs across multiple devices.
"We are pleased to support the continued success of Windows Live for mobile to help users benefit from the same excellent, online experience on mobile devices as they enjoy when plugged into their home computer," said Faraz Syed, CEO and Co-Founder of DeviceAnywhere. "DeviceAnywhere Test Center provides a SaaS solution that allows Microsoft to maintain this high level of quality by enabling live testing on a wide range of networks and devices, while considerably reducing the physical management and maintenance overhead associated with in-house efforts."
