Never Alone Anymore's HiMyTribe Lets iPhone Users Take Their Business and Social Networks With Them On The Road
iPhone's GPS Capabilities Create `Tribe' to Network with People in Your Area and Around the Globe
NEW YORK, Aug. 7, 2009 - Today, Never Alone Anymore, a company created to arm the world with social networking tools, launched HiMyTribe for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Creating a location-based network that lives in real time, HiMyTribe aims to leverage and fully optimize the iPhone's GPS technology for business and social networking purposes. Sitting at the cross section of already proven models including MeetUp, LinkedIn, craigslist.org and Google Maps, HiMyTribe takes the best features of all of these services and rolls them into one easy-to-use mobile application and is the first truly real-time person to person application for the iPhone.
"The benefit of HiMyTribe is that it enables individuals to network with business colleagues and potential associates all while on-the-go, anytime, anywhere. By leveraging the power of mobile social computing and the iPhone, we wanted to create a truly useful application that achieves what no other location based people finder application has done before," said Jean-Marc Orselli, CEO of Never Alone Anymore. "HiMyTribe merges multiple social networking services on one seamless and unique platform with the intention of bringing people together, to create business and social connections."
"Apple has created a platform environment that has opened doors for so many new and useful applications. The difference between our application and others on the market, is that HiMyTribe serves a truly useful and common business and social need," said William Bereault, research and development manager of Never Alone Anymore. "We have benchmarked social networking applications and as a result, created an application that is secure, efficient, simple to use with the objective of helping people find the right person to meet their needs at any given time."
How it Works
HiMyTribe lets you find people in your geographic area by linking members via a combination of GPS technology and a powerful criteria-based search engine. Users create `tribes,' or groups of people they want to stay connected with and can find at any moment. When connected to the Internet via 3G or WiFi, you see where your `tribe' is located within a few meters or around the entire world. In addition, users can find and meet new people by creating a personal profile and managing their own privacy controls. Through easy-to-use settings and functions, users can find people based on specific mutual interests delivered to them from a highly precise selection criteria search engine.
Using this search engine, they will have the ability to identify people in the immediate area to share experiences based on similar interests, such as business travelers, conference goers, social media communities, and so on. HiMyTribe is a service for businesses, business associates, friends, and family to locate, communicate and stay connected with the people in `their tribe.' Within a tribe, users can see where all tribe members are located at any given time, send community messages and invitations, as well as provide status updates telling members what they are doing. Users can also message people individually and `blacklist' users who they do not want to see their profile or locate them.
The criteria-based search engine tool enables `tribe' members to look for people interested in business, networking, friendship, relationships or dating. Within the business category, there are over 130 business sectors to select from such as consumer goods, financial services, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, real estate, technology and telecommunications to name a few. Results are instantaneously returned and ranked by proximity, starting with people within walking distance, nearby and beyond. In addition, members can choose to find people or vendors selling or interested in buying goods creating a virtual marketplace for the HiMyTribe community. To maintain complete security, an individual's location cannot be exactly identified but rather you can see their proximity to you.
Initially, the free application will allow for 20 tribe members. Members can also invite friends signed up with HiMyTribe to join their tribe by searching for their user ID.
