Leesburg, VA (PRWEB) July 9, 2009 -- smartRealm LLC today announced
that Barry Glick will lead the firm as Chief Executive Officer. Glick
co-founded and led the development of MapQuest and other game-changing
businesses in the Internet, location-based services and enterprise
software fields.
smartRealm technology extracts critical targeted information from social media and web content, fuses it with enterprise data, and delivers real-time tailored insights that enable organizations to make informed decisions and take effective actions. The intellectual property of the award-winning semantic integration platform knowledgeSmarts, the gnizr Enterprise information-sharing platform, and the gnizr open source social bookmarking system conveyed to smartRealm from Image Matters LLC, a leading technology research and development firm, through a corporate spin-out. In addition, the development team, led by the Semantic Web pioneer, Dr. Yaser Bishr, has joined the new company from Image Matters.
We are very pleased that Barry has decided to lead the company
"smartRealm represents a unique opportunity to deliver in real-time, relevant, actionable and targeted insights derived from the explosion of content on the web, particularly from social media," Glick commented. "The world-class semantic platform developed by Yaser and his team provides a unique and proven capability to uncover meaningful data from the vast and rapidly changing content found on the web and in proprietary content stores. What we have mastered is the means to navigate a complex content environment, link the derived information to standard enterprise databases and present the information in easy-to-understand and relevant ways."
"We are very pleased that Barry has decided to lead the company," said Yaser Bishr, Executive Vice President of smartRealm. "Barry's track record in successfully building innovative companies that use leading-edge technology to deliver useful information to businesses, government agencies, and consumers in an accessible way fits the smartRealm mission perfectly."
Glick founded GeoSysems Global Corp., later renamed MapQuest.com in 1994, and served as its CEO and Chairman, raising two rounds of venture capital. He oversaw the launch of MapQuest.com in 1996, the pioneering consumer and B2B mapping and directions web site. In 1999 MapQuest had a highly successful IPO, and subsequently was sold to AOL/Time Warner. He also served as CEO of pioneering location based services company Webraska Mobile Technologies, acquired by SANEF in 2006 and most recently was VP for Web and Mobile Products at NAVTEQ Inc., acquired by Nokia in 2008.
