Feature rich hand-held GPS/GIS receiver delivers sub-meter accuracy at low-cost for ArcPad users
Carquefou - France, July 6, 2009 - Magellan Professional is introducing
today GPSDifferentialT for ESRI ArcPad 8, a post-processing software
extension for the MobileMapper 6 with ArcPad 8 mapping application. The
GPSDifferential for ArcPad 8 enables the MobileMapper 6 GIS/GPS
handheld receiver users to achieve outstanding sub-meter accuracy for
GIS data
collection and mapping at low cost. "Today, there is no other product
on the market which can provide a similar GPS accuracy for this price
range", said Jacek Pietruczanis, GIS Marketing Manager of Magellan
Professional. "I encourage the mobile GIS customers to read our latest
white paper online to learn how our device beats its competition."
GPSDifferential for ArcPad 8 software extension automatically logs the
raw data that is required for reliable sub-meter post-processed
differential corrections, even where real-time corrections are not
available. The raw data file stored by this software extension can be
post-processed using MobileMapper 6 Office, which is included in the
GPSDifferential for ArcPad 8 offer. Post-processed data is exported
with attributes in shapefile standard format.
MobileMapper 6, a state-of-the-art rugged GPS device providing
sub-meter post-processed accuracy for GIS data collection and mapping,
has a unique position and performance in the market today. No other
GIS/GPS receiver can provide similar GPS performance and accuracy for
an equivalent price point. MobileMapper 6 is particularly appealing to
forestry and other natural resource organizations, oil and gas,
agriculture, utilities, government agencies, and businesses large and
small that need a highly-rugged, easy-to-use mobile GIS device at low
cost, but which can also deliver sub-meter accuracy.
About MobileMapper 6 GIS/GPS device
MobileMapper 6 provides a complete set of features for anyone who needs
productive data collection and efficient asset management in the field.
Unlike consumer-grade units, the low-cost, easy-to-use MobileMapper 6
offers full compatibility with popular GIS software, such as ESRI
ArcPad 8 or the Magellan Professional proprietary mobile mapping
application to enable companies to select and use their GIS software of
choice.
MobileMapper 6 comes standard with Microsoft Windows Mobile version 6, along with Bluetoothr for wireless connectivity, and an integrated 2-megapixel camera.
The rugged design of the MobileMapper 6 is impact resistant and water-
and dustproof for use in harsh field conditions. It is able to
withstand a one-meter drop to solid ground and can withstand accidental
immersion in one meter of water for up to 30 minutes.
Data collection is enabled by 128 MB of non-volatile Flash data
storage, and storage of large amounts of field date is made possible
through a Secure Digital (SD) card slot that accepts SD cards with up
to 4 GB of memory.
