SUNNYVALE, Calif., June 29 -- Trimble (NASDAQ: TRMB) announced today
that two more electric utilities have selected its UtilityCenter(R)
software as their enterprise Geographic Information System (GIS)
solution.
Trimble UtilityCenter software tools allow electric, gas, water and wastewater utilities to automate their workflow and business processes to increase efficiency and improve productivity.
Farmers' Electric Cooperative (FEC) located in Clovis, New Mexico. FEC will be implementing Trimble's UtilityCenter uaField(TM) module to put the utility's GIS at field workers' fingertips, the uaFM(TM) module to provide core GIS and asset management functionality in the office, uaMaintenance(TM) to extend the uaField functionality to include computerized maintenance management of utility assets, e-Products(TM) module for Intranet-based GIS access as well as a product interface to the utility's work management system (WMS) and a two-way interface to the customer information system (CIS). FEC also selected Trimble to develop a data model for field collection to support their future needs for staking, modeling and outage management. Trimble GPS data collectors will be used to provide the source map information for the project. The solution will include a two-way MultiSpeak 3 interface.
Oregon Trail Electric Consumers Cooperative (OTECC) of Baker City, Oregon selected Trimble UtilityCenter as its Enterprise GIS solution. The solution will support OTECC's needs for staking, which include two-way integration to its CIS, joint use and mobile mapping, maintenance management as well as an Intranet-based map viewer to assist with the distribution of information throughout the organization. Radius Technologies, a Trimble business partner, will be using the UtilityCenter uaField module with Trimble ProXRT(TM) receivers to collect field asset location and attributes.
The Trimble UtilityCenter software provides a comprehensive suite of GIS-based workflow solutions designed to automate the daily business operations of utilities from outage management and work order tracking to updating GIS maps while in the field. The technology is fully scalable, cost-effective and able to meet the diverse needs of utilities. The Trimble UtilityCenter software includes application modules for utility desktop GIS mapping, mobile GIS and field staking, asset maintenance tracking, and outage management. Through an integrated desktop, Web and mobile platform, Trimble UtilityCenter provides utility office and field employees with a complete visual solution for managing assets, customers and mobile resources.
"We are extremely pleased to be working with Farmers' Electric Cooperative and the Oregon Trail Electric Consumers Cooperative," said Katherine Sandford, general manager of Trimble's Utilities Field Solutions group. "UtilityCenter can facilitate improved customer service, greater efficiency in the utilization of and access to GIS data, and more effective management and maintenance of utility assets to improve the overall efficiency of their daily operations."
Trimble's UtilityCenter software is currently used by more than 100 electric, gas, water and wastewater utilities throughout the U.S.
Trimble's Utilities Field Solutions group specializes in implementing enterprise mobile workforce, computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), asset management, field data collection, staking and inspection solutions for electric, gas, water/wastewater and solid waste utilities. Trimble's UtilityCenter, Fieldport(R), and Utility Fleet Manager(TM) enterprise solutions automate utility operations which can lead to increased field worker productivity, enhanced customer service and faster emergency response.
