Exor Expands Into Australian Local Government Market PDF Print E-mail

Monday, 31 October 2005

Australia, 31 October 2005: Exor Corporation and axim, today announced the implementation of an Asset Management Information Systems (AMIS) for Mildura Rural City Council.  The AMIS solution complies with the Victorian Road Management Act 2005.

Mildura Rural City Council’s successful implementation of the AMIS solution strengthens axim’s position as a supplier of Asset Management Solutions for the Australian Local Government market.  Geoff Gunn, Manager of Infrastructure Services for Mildura Rural City Council, comments on the selection of axim, “We were seeking an integrated and traceable system to replace our old manual paper based processes.  It was crucial the system we acquired enabled us to comply with Council’s Road Management Plan and Service Level Agreement, but also had the capabilities to address infrastructure management issues further down the track.

“A variety of critical factors had to be satisfied prior to making our selection, as our municipality covers approximately 22,000 square kilometres in the North Western corner of Victoria.  We needed to ensure the remote access capabilities of the AMIS system could provide information rapidly and in a format that key stakeholders felt safe and comfortable working with.  We were impressed with the way the data reporting system and the programming set-up was conducted by axim personnel prior to installation.  The system was customised to address our specific requirements.”

The AMIS solution is a fully integrated Asset and Maintenance Management system based on Exor technology and is sold through a strategic channel partner agreement with axim.  Based on Exor’s world leading Infrastructure Asset Management Solution, AMIS provides a comprehensive history of activity on the road network and demonstrates compliance with the Victorian Road Management Act 2005.

The solution utilises a spatial interface, facilitating visual tracking for the entire maintenance and management process including the ability to track customer enquiries and enable defects to be logged utilising GPS equipped PDA’s.  Work scheduling is planned to enable defects to be prioritized ensuring compliance with any road management plans.

During the comprehensive selection and validation program Mildura Rural City Council consulted widely, Gunn further adds, “As part of the consultation process we observed the AMIS system in operation at the Melton Shire Council.  Their applications have been successfully operational for sometime and the visit provided us with clear insights into the systems efficiency.

“Our Infrastructure Services Works Supervisor observed first hand the Exor solution on a study tour of the UK.  His positive feedback from Dorset County Council [a UK Local Government Authority] confirmed our observations at Melton.  This has since been proven in the live system, the maintenance teams using AMIS have commented on the simplicity of the system and feel the processes have provided them with a more pro-active and co-ordinate to road maintenance management.”

Phillip Caunter, Exor General Manager Asia Pacific, commented, “This project demonstrates the value of our partnership with axim.  The project with Mildura Rural City Council was subject to a robust examination of our combined technical and commercial capabilities and I’m please that the Exor solution is leading the progressive stance both Axim and Mildura Rural City Council are taking.”
