Qik now available on Nokia Nseries flagship device
REDWOOD CITY, Calif.-- Qik, the leading live mobile video streaming platform, today announced their latest cooperation with Nokia, the world's largest mobile device manufacturer. After months of rigorous testing of all mobile video applications, Nokia has selected Qik as a live mobile video application to be pre-loaded on the Nokia N97.
Qik allows anyone to easily stream live video from their handset, sharing their moments in real-time with whomever they choose. Users may "Qik" in private mode or share videos with specific viewers of their own selection, for the ultimate offering in user-determined sharing with friends and family or the entire world.
Qik on the Nokia N97 comes with a number of new features, including:
-- An innovative touch screen interface that supports 19 languages
including British English, Spanish, French, Italian, German,
Portuguese, Russian, Chinese, Arabic, and Hebrew.
-- Support for nHD quality video. This enables Nokia N97 owners to have a
widescreen 16:9 aspect ratio video with 642x358 resolution as can be
experienced by watching videos found at http://qik.com/video/1331325
-- Ability to share live streams to Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and other
social networks with just a single touch of a button.
Designed for the needs of Internet-savvy consumers, the Nokia N97 combines a large 3.5" touch display with a full QWERTY keyboard, a fully customizable home screen with live widgets, a five megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, dual LED flash and high speed connectivity over HSDPA or WLAN. Nokia's flagship Nseries device allows consumers to be online as it happens.
"This move reflects the progress of Qik's strategic relationship with Nokia," said Qik CEO Ramu Sunkara. "To be pre-loaded on all their Symbian S60 devices speaks to the confidence that Nokia has in Qik for its consumers around the world. We are extremely pleased that this pre-load is starting with Nokia N97, a truly game changing device."
"We have been working with Qik since its entry to the market and have seen the way they have rapidly progressed to being recognized as the leader in the mobile video space," said Rob Taylor, Vice President of Forum Nokia. "Qik was an obvious choice when we were looking to pre-load an innovative mobile video solution on the Nokia N97 and future Symbian S60 devices."
