buddi, the UK's leading GPS personal tracking system, has today
announced the appointment of Jose Sanchez, one of the most experienced
names in GPS development, as Chief Technology Officer.
Sanchez, 35, is a highly regarded telematics expert who has worked on GPS systems for more than a decade, first at GMV, the Spanish GPS technology supplier for the European Space Agency, and then QinetiQ, the defence research company, where he was responsible for the development of the commercial GPS products.
As Chief Technology Officer, Sanchez will work closely with Sara Murray, the founder and CEO of buddi, helping to firmly establish its dominance in the personal tracking market.
buddi was launched in 2007 by Murray, a British entrepreneur, after her daughter went missing in a supermarket. It can be tracked to within a few feet anywhere in the world and is now being used by over 50 councils across the UK for their lone workers, NHS trusts, and individuals who find themselves alone and in potentially difficult situations, including the elderly and vulnerable children.
Sanchez was born in Spain and educated at ICAI Pontificia Comillas University in Madrid. He moved to the UK in 2001, joining Fujitsu Telecommunication Europe in Cambridge.
"I am delighted to be joining Sara and her team at buddi. I was attracted not only by buddi's strong technical capabilities, but also the chance to work on an exciting business proposition which has a great future. I will be working closely with Sara and the technical teams to ensure buddi remains at the forefront of GPS tracking technology," said Sanchez.
Sara Murray said: "Jose is unusual in that he has a fine technical background and a good head for business. This potent combination makes him an ideal addition to buddi and we are looking forward to his valuable experience and expertise."
Sanchez lives in Aylesbury with his wife and three children.
