Could your BlackBerry GIS application be a winner? June 3, 2009 -
Dayton, Ohio - Research In Motion and TDC Group announce the 1st Annual
GIS on BlackBerry awards. Coinciding with the ESRI International User
Conference, the GIS on BlackBerry awards will recognize the best GIS
applications using FreeanceT Mobile software on BlackBerry smartphones.
Win valuable award prizes including Freeance Mobile software and training, BlackBerry smartphones and Ricoh 500SE GPS enabled cameras. You have a chance to win accolades and fantastic prizes. And since the Wireless GIS Awards are part of the 2009 ESRI International User Conference, you'll have opportunities to network, form new business relationships and be seen as a leader in wireless GIS technology.
A special award category - BlackBerry Beacon - is open to organizations who want to launch GIS on BlackBerry smartphones. Tell us how you want to mobilize your GIS to BlackBerry and you could win Freeance Mobile software and BlackBerry smartphones to make it happen. Implementation of Freeance Mobile software and BlackBerry smartphones is not necessary for the BlackBerry Beacon award category.
All entries are due by July 7, 2009. Award winners will be announced at the 2009 ESRI International User Conference.
The 2009 Wireless GIS on BlackBerry Awards Categories
Winners and finalists are chosen by a Selection Committee in each the following categories:
Best application for public safety
Best application for government
Best application for field services organization
BlackBerry Beacon for innovative applications in the planning stage - Freeance and / or BlackBerry installation not required
Winners of the categories for public safety, government and field services organizations will be selected on the criteria of most productive and innovative use of GIS on the BlackBerry platform. Applications may be in the implementation or full production stage. Applications must be deployed using BlackBerry smartphones, Freeance Mobile and ESRI ArcGISr Server or ArcIMSr software. The award for the winner in each of these categories will be a Ricoh 500SE digital camera, five GPS enabled BlackBerry smartphones and BlackBerry accessories. Note: winner is require to activate BlackBerry smartphones with their carrier. Wireless service for BlackBerry smartphones is not included.
Entries for the categories above must include screenshots of the mobile applications, network design and data flow, and descriptions of field operations before and after implementation of application. A summary of efficiencies gained, increased productivity, cost savings and other benefits must be documented.
BlackBerry Beacon Award Category
A fourth category is open to organizations who want to launch GIS on BlackBerry smartphones but have not yet done so. Judging for this category will be based on an organization's planned use of Freeance Mobile software on BlackBerry smartphones and ESRI ArcGIS Server software. You may submit an entry for the BlackBerry Beacon Award even if you have not implemented BlackBerry smartphones or Freeance Mobile software. Entries will be judged on innovation and projected outcomes for increased productivity, public safety, or enhanced community service.
The award for winning this category is one server license of Freeance Mobile - Standard Edition valued at $8,995, plus up to $5,000 in implementation services, five GPS-enabled BlackBerry smartphones and BlackBerry accessories. Note: winner is require to activate BlackBerry smartphones with their carrier. Wireless service for BlackBerry smartphones is not included.
Entries in the BlackBerry Beacon category must include existing conditions, planned application with proposed dataflow and network design. Projected efficiencies, increased productivity, cost savings and other benefits must be documented.
Freeance Mobile 2.0 for ArcGIS Server 9.3 will be on display in the BlackBerry booth at the 2008 ESRI International User Conference in San Diego, booth #2223.
