IDV Solutions today released Visual Fusion Contribute, an iPhone
application that enables a user to instantly contribute notes and
photos from an iPhone to SharePoint and SharePoint -based applications.
Lansing, March 18, 2009 - The application complements IDV's flagship product, Visual Fusion, an enterprise platform for creating map-based applications and mashups.
Using Visual Fusion Contribute, iPhone users can shoot photos or select from photos already stored on their phones, add notes, and send the photos directly to Visual Fusion-enabled SharePoint libraries. Visual Fusion Contribute automatically tags the photos with the user's location coordinates. The contributions can then be shared, along with other enterprise and cloud-based data, in mashups built with Visual Fusion.
Photos from the field provide a real-time view critical to applications such as crisis management, asset inspection or event security. Sales teams can combine geotagged photos of customers and contacts with deeper levels of information, turning a flat directory into a potent visual tool for planning travel and customer visits. Using Visual Fusion Contribute's streamlined interface, users can send an on-the-ground view of anything to teammates in other locations.
"We are smitten by the location-based capabilities of the iPhone, and its ability to connect the person in the field with the team back in the office," explained Ian Clemens, CTO at IDV Solutions. "VF Contribute enables employees to collaborate and contribute content from their mobile devices, which helps keep everyone on the same page when situation awareness is critical. This fits perfectly with the mission of the Visual Fusion platform: empowering decision makers to make more informed decisions in less time."
Visual Fusion Contribute is available as a free download from the iPhone App store.
