Carlsbad, CA, March 16, 2009 TC Technology, the industry leader in
mobile GIS, announces that Henkels & McCoy's Engineering Group has
implemented GO! Sync Mobile GIS to do an exhaustive inspection of
approximately 12,000 utility poles for a southern California
municipality.
The intuitive ESRI ArcGIS-based solution was selected as an improvement over using paper and enables inspectors to view and navigate a map, to sketch field notes, to capture comprehensive inspection results, and to relate field pictures to those inspection results.
In June 2008, Henkel & McCoy was contracted to perform a detailed electrical system data collection and validation services as a part of a larger project to improve the quality of GIS for a southern California municipality. The first phase of the project is nearing completion and, as a result of that excellent quality of work, a follow-on phase was recently awarded. To assist in with both phases of data collection, GO! Sync Mobile GIS is used by field inspectors.
This paperless solution allows Henkel & McCoy to streamline the process of gathering crucial facility information in an easy-to-use interface that requires minimal training. Field inspectors simply select the facility and complete the inspection using drop-downs and menus. At the end of a shift, the results are automatically uploaded to GIS for quality control reviews.
"Our goal is to provide our customer with an accurate, complete, and timely field survey of all the poles and related equipment. That's our service. GO! Sync enables our team to efficiently perform the needed inspections and the improvement over a paper workflow is significant, "states Brad Mayo, Asset Management Specialist for Henkels & McCoy. "Leveraging a customer's GIS in the field with ESRI-based technology is an added benefit in that data is maintained it is native state for immediate validation by us or use by the customer."
Using GO! Sync Mobile GIS for data collection services is one of its many uses. GO! Sync Mobile GIS offers Mapbook for viewing, the Redline Extension for Sketching, the Inspection Extension for inspecting, and the Ticket Integration Extension for displaying work tickets on the map. Used across the nation by large and small organizations, GO! Sync Mobile is affordable, straightforward to deploy, and built with ESRI technology.
