CommunityOne East to Offer More Than 30 Sessions at Free Developer Event
SANTA CLARA, Calif.-- Sun Microsystems, Inc. (NASDAQ:JAVA), today announced details around its next CommunityOne conference, slated for March 18-19, 2008, at the Marriott Marquis in New York City. Growing in popularity since its launch in San Francisco in 2007, this is the first time CommunityOne will be held on the East coast. There is no charge to attend CommunityOne on Wednesday, March 18. The conference's general session keynote will be delivered by David Douglas, senior vice president of Cloud Computing and chief sustainability officer, Sun Microsystems. He will be joined by Lew Tucker, Ph.D., vice president and chief technology officer Cloud Computing, Sun Microsystems Inc.
CommunityOne East is a two-day event that will bring together developers, students and technologists to focus on open source innovation and implementation. The conference programs on Wednesday, March 18, are the result of a public call for papers and will offer more than 30 sessions led by contributors of dozens of open source and community projects such as MySQL(TM), GlassFish(TM), JavaFX(TM), OpenSolaris(TM), NetBeans(TM), Groovy, PHP, Apache, Android and more.
On Thursday, March 19, expert educators from Sun Learning Services will lead deep technical tutorials on building dynamic Web 2.0 websites, designing robust enterprise applications and harnessing the power of the world's most popular open source database. CommunityOne will also offer hands-on technology demonstrations and an "Open Space" for open source groups to hold public discussions.
Session details are located in the CommunityOne Catalog. The 2009 CommunityOne program will encompass dozens of in-depth technical sessions, including the following:
