3rd Party Developers Can Access Privacy-Protected User Location Data
EMERYVILLE, Calif.-- WaveMarket (www.wavemarket.com), a leader in mobile location-based services and platforms, today announced a multi-year collaboration to enhance the WaveMarket VeriplaceT platform with Microsoft Virtual Earth technology. VeriplaceT, WaveMarket's open location and privacy platform, is the first location aggregation platform in North America, offering third party developers live access to the location data of mobile users. The Veriplace platform empowers wireless customers with rich privacy controls, ensuring that location data is never shared without permission.
"VeriplaceT unlocks the huge potential of LBS for application developers because it provides a safe way for carriers to release location data," said Tasso Roumeliotis, WaveMarket's CEO. "We're thrilled to collaborate with Microsoft Virtual Earth to offer our developers powerful mapping, routing, and geocoding functionality for their location-aware applications."
"WaveMarket is a proven leader in mobile location-based services. We're pleased to offer our mapping partners rich mobile location-aware opportunities by leveraging WaveMarket's VeriplaceT location aggregation platform," said Chris Sampson, director of Virtual Earth at Microsoft Corp. "The pairing of the Microsoft Virtual Earth platform with WaveMarket's VeriplaceT Location Aggregation platform offers web, WAP, and mobile application developers a very powerful toolset for building location-aware applications."
Already available on Sprint, the VeriplaceT Location Aggregation platform will soon offer location connectivity to a number of carriers globally. Developers can sign up for trial access to VeriplaceT at the Developer website, http://developer.wavemarket.com/.
In addition to enhancing the dynamic functionality of the Veriplace location platform for mobile developers interested in accessing location, this collaboration brings the latest Virtual Earth mapping technologies to WaveMarket's Family Locator commercial deployments. The WaveMarket Family Locator powers leading family-tracking solutions on Sprint Nextel, Alltel, Bell Mobility, and other global tier one mobile carriers.
