Princeton, NJ (January 7, 2009) - Photo and video sharing service
Phanfare (www.phanfare.com) today announced its latest release of
Phanfare Photon, a robust iPhone application that puts your whole world
of photos and videos into the palm of your hand.
Currently being demoed at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas and available immediately through the iPhone Apps Store, Photon lets you wirelessly upload photos in the background to Phanfare's secure servers and create, view and share your albums from your iPhone, even when a network connection is not available.
The iPhone and Photon represent an important part of the Phanfare photo/video sharing solution. Phanfare users have always been able to store an unlimited number of photos and videos on the service and share them with their family and friends. Now with Photon, they can do all this without having to use their computer.
"The iPhone represents a new age in photography and photo and video sharing: the managed, connected digital camera." said Andrew Erlichson, Phanfare's co-founder and CEO. "People don't have to be burdened any longer with the complexities of getting images off of their camera, downloading them to their computer and then uploading the photos to the Internet and sharing them. Using the iPhone, you can capture the moment in photos, store the images securely on Phanfare's servers, and share them with your family and friends; all with just a few taps and without having to be tethered to a PC."
The new release removes limits on the number of albums, photos and videos that can be viewed within the Photon application. "Many of our users have several thousand photos and videos stored on Phanfare, chronicling their families' lives." said Erlichson, "With Photon, they can view and share all of these memories wherever they are." You can also caption, geo-tag and selectively show and hide your images and stay up-to-date about new albums posted by your friends and family. Phanfare Photon also works on an iPod Touch.
Phanfare's manages over 100 terabytes of photos and videos and offers state-of-the-art browser-based management tools, downloadable Mac and PC organizers, and unlimited archival storage. Phanfare users can view their photos and videos in ad-free online albums, which feature beautiful full-screen slideshows, as well as view them on other websites, such as Facebook. Phanfare works with many wireless digital picture frames, and users can turn their home computers or living room TV into a picture frame using the Phanfare screensaver and Phanfare media server. Phanfare also provides a mobile web client so albums can be viewed on any cell phone or web-connected mobile device.
Phanfare offers 1GB of online storage free to each member. Unlimited storage can be purchased for $54.95/year.
