2009 Suzuki SX4: First car priced below $16,000 with standard navigation
- Suzuki's consumer base of 'confident explorers' made more confident with the help of Microsoft and Garmin
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 6 - Having appeared on several prestigious consumer automotive industry lists in 2008, including Kelley Blue Book's "Top 10 Coolest Cars Under $18,000," Suzuki's SX4 generates a state-of-the-art buzz at this year's Las Vegas-based Consumer Electronics Show (CES), beginning January 8.
The SX4 adds a fully integrated standard navigation system for the 2009 model year, marking the first time a vehicle priced below $16,000 will include navigation as standard equipment. Referred to as the Suzuki TRIP(TM) (Travel, Real-time traffic, Information and Play), the SX4's navigation system is the result of a collaboration with Garmin and Microsoft. It utilizes Navteq(R) mapping software and comes preloaded with street maps that feature millions of points-of-interest, such as hotels, restaurants, gasoline stations, ATMs and Suzuki dealerships. The navigation unit includes a pop-up 4.3-inch touch screen display that is fully integrated into the vehicle's audio system, which results in all navigation commands being channeled through the SX4's speakers.
An available upgraded Suzuki TRIP system also offers Bluetooth(R) hands-free calling technology, on-screen and audible text messaging and a number of available MSN(R) Direct-enabled features, including up-to-date traffic, weather forecasts, news headlines, stock quotes, local event listings, including movie times and a gas price finder capable of locating the lowest priced fuel in town.
